Neck Lift
A neck lift, or lower rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the neck and jawline by addressing sagging skin, excess fat, and muscle banding.
As individuals age, the skin loses elasticity, leading to the development of jowls and a double chin. The neck lift procedure typically involves the removal of excess skin, tightening of underlying muscles, and, if necessary, liposuction to eliminate unwanted fat deposits. This results in a smoother, more defined neck and jawline, contributing to a more youthful overall appearance. During the consultation all the issues of skin, fat, and muscle are assessed to customize the procedure to the patient. The procedure can range from liposuction, platysmaplasty to full facelift.
Recovery from a Neck Lift
Recovery from a neck lift usually involves some swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed pain relief and proper post-operative care. Patients are generally advised to limit physical activity for a few weeks while healing progresses. While results can be long-lasting, they may also be influenced by factors such as genetics, sun exposure, and lifestyle choices.
